Unleash Your Superhero Powers

Have you ever wanted to be a superhero? Or to have superhero powers like Superman the man of steel or Wonder Woman with her lasso of truth? I know I have and I’ve noticed an upswing in the number of motion pictures releasing on the big screen. That made me think of two things. One, For many of us, why are fascinated with superhero movies? And the second, don’t we all have superhero powers? How can we tap into and unleash our superhero powers?

Not to mention, in this day and age, we all love to find ways to escape reality. Some choose to take a personal day from work or to go shopping for some retail therapy, take a vacation to all-inclusive or to immerse oneself in a different culture. I’m sure there are several other things that one can do to find ways to escape.

Definition of Superhero

According to Wikipedia; A superhero is a type of heroic character, usually possessing supernatural or superhuman powers, which dedicates themselves to fighting crime, protecting the public, and battling supervillains. A female superhero sometimes is called a superheroine (also rendered super-heroine or superheroine), although the word superhero is commonly used for females too. Superhero fiction is the genre of fiction that is centred on such characters, especially in American comic books since the 1930s.

superboyIt goes on to say; the longstanding Merriam-Webster dictionary defines “a fictional hero having extraordinary or superhuman powers; also: an exceptionally skilful or successful person”. Terms such as masked crime fighters, costumed adventurers or masked vigilantes are sometimes used to refer to characters such as the Spirit, who may not be explicitly mentioned to as superheroes but share similar traits.

Some superheroes use their powers to counter daily crime while also combating threats against humanity from supervillains, who are their criminal counterparts. Often at least one of these supervillains will be the superhero’s archenemy.

Origins of A Superhero

The word “superhero” first dates back to 1917. That doesn’t mean we haven’t had superhero’s before that date, but that’s when the word was used to describe a character. Personally, I find it fascinating that during War times primarily World War I and II, the superhero was invented and where often found fighting crime around war stories such as Wonder Woman and Captain America.
Today, a super surge of superheroes are taking to the big screen to entertain us and to help us escape from our chaotic world.

Types of Superheros

For me, there are two main types of superheroes. One is the mutant kind; A mutant must live with his/her super ability all the time. Often it is portrayed as some curse or trauma to endure. The other is a secret superhero. He/she can hide their good vs evilsuperpowers from ourselves and others. Take for example; Superman who hides behind glasses and goes by Clark Kent and Batman who is a wealthy billionaire as goes by Bruce Wayne.
As a psychic medium, I was born with my ability, so I guess I would go under the category of the mutant. I’m cool with that. I believe we are all superheroes to our right. Some born with a natural ability and others cultivate it through study and practice.

Good vs Evil

The principle behind a superhero is to triumph good over evil. Take a dangerous situation and making it better. Use common sense to do right over wrong. We don’t need to leap over high rise buildings or run faster than a speeding bullet, and we just need to go within and do the right thing for ourselves and to the situation at hand.

Let’s Make A New Routine

For the most part, we already know what to do with unleashing our superhero power. Be involved, get stronger with making choices and learning how to say no when someone wants to take your control away. Surround yourself with appropriate relationships, the kind that inspires you to be better than you were yesterday. Being able to stand in your light and glow without the threat or fear of having someone that is in your inner sanctum trying to diminish your output.

Whenever we make a change, we add discipline to the new routine. By constant repetition, we grow and unleash the superhero within. We are not in a competition, and this is life. Therefore, go forward at your own pace, there’s no need to compare yourself or what you have to others, everyone is a unique superhero with their secret superpowers, some choose to use their powers for good and some for evil.

Today IS the Day!

There’s no time like the present to don your cape and get to work. If you’re not sweating on some level, you’re not working hard enough in fighting “crime” and getting the job done.
Forget about saving the damsel or lad in distress. You have your journey to complete. When we think we are helping others, two things happen. One, it distracts you from what you need to get done and two, the other person doesn’t learn their valuable life lessons, and it may take them longer to learn because they haven’t done the work themselves. With this in mind, it creates a massive distraction for many people.

Superhero, Meet Your Superpower

If you’re not sure of your superpower or in many cases powers, ask yourself “What can I do right now that is for my highest good?” Trust your instinct and your heart. Make an effort to become a better person, better than you were yesterday. Practise being brave so you can weather any storm and remember there are no enemies (only from within). With that note, be practical and look at ways to rid yourself of doubt or at the very least, quiet down the noise.

Remember, your superpower is already within you, waiting to be unleashed and to thrive. If you have challenges with triggering on your own, go towards your tribe of like-minded superheroes! Your tribe is an unlimited power source to keep you secure.

Approaching Superhero-ism

You’re ready to leap over tall obstacles, your powerful rays of compassion are prepared to extinguish any doubts, and your inner voice gives you superhuman abilities of strength, commitment and common sense. But before you take off and conquer the “evil”, remind yourself that even superheroes mess up from time to time.

intention inspirationThe real expectation that anyone can give to you (including yourself) is to do and be your very best. When superheroes unleash their superpowers, they pick yourself up after every failure, and they rethink action plans fast and implement change right away. They seek the next best plan when the original one doesn’t work out (isn’t that most of the time). In other words, Superheros never quit or give up.

Superhero’s never stood still, especially to take praise and wait to be noticed, they’re on to their next opportunity. When a job gets done well, a superhero goes back to their secret identity, or if they can’t hide, they retreat to re-charge, but they never disappear or stay away too long.

Unleashing the superhero within is supposed to be fun. Of course, there will be hard work and sweat equity, but every superhero has an entertaining and humorous side. Therefore, it’s time to unleash your very best superhero and do things that make you uncomfortable to take yourself to that next level of your unlimited power of living.

Let’s Have Fun!

If you could be a comic book superhero, what power would you like to unleash and what would you call yourself?
